The crew are still busy clearing away Boomtown 2018, but for the vast majority of us it’s now over, and we have all returned to reality. Our boring everyday non-Boomtown lives =(
It has taken Source 4 days to recover enough to write anything for the blog. I know about and have heard many stories of the difficult adjustment period after Boomtown. It’s just hard to return back to real life, right?
It really is a testament to the quality of Boomtown. A fantasy world, that makes us believe that anything is possible, shows us who we can truly be, and questions our very reality. Going back to work sucks.
I’ll have a full review out in the next few weeks, and a few other bits and pieces about the festival too. Otherwise it’s probably going to go pretty quiet around these parts until the run up to next years festival.
In the meantime, here is a round up of the after festival updates so far…
Boomtown 2019: Chapter 11, A Radical City
Boomtown 2019 was announced at the end of the festival during the closing ceremony. This 11th chapter is going to be the start of a new 10 year story! The location is not changing, they are staying just where they are. And as they plan to go for at least 10 more years, you can put all your rumors to bed now.
The official Facebook event confirms that the dates for 2019 are the 7th of August to the 12th of August. Wednesday opening is back next year! Book it out from work now to avoid disappointment.
Source is very excited about the prospect of the festival being taken in new and exciting directions. Boomtown is fiercely independent, and has never stopped growing and changing, and that’s what has made it special. So now most of the growing has stagnated, that only leaves changing. Boomtown by name, Boomtown by nature. Never stop evolving.
The phrase “A Radical City”, tied in with themes of sustainability, has me very excited about the future direction. If you take a look at the official website, there is a lot of soul searching from the team, asking important questions. Why do we do this? What do we want to achieve? Do we like the direction the festival is heading? And where do we take it now?
Source cannot wait to see what they do next. We are in for a lot more dramatic surprises and changes in the years to come. Source will have a lot more to say about this sort of stuff in future blog posts.
Boomtown 2018 After Video
Boomtown have teased the after video for the festival. Normally it takes quite some weeks to produce and edit. It’s one of the highlights of the Boomtown year, other than the festival itself. I can’t wait for it to be released, and will probably watch it several times between now and next years festival.
Here is the short teaser:

Boomtown 2018 Feedback Survey
Every year Boomtown run a feedback survey. Source has never known a festival to be so good at taking feedback on board, and making the changes everyone is asking for year on year.
They aim to reply to everyone’s feedback and comments (if you want a response). It is your chance to tell Boomtown what you think, make suggestions for next year, and really get involved in how the festival is run. Source highly recommends you fill it out.
These guys listen, and if you are all saying the same thing, they will make it happen.
Boomtown 2018 Official Gallery
A photo gallery briefly showed up on Facebook this evening for about 10 minutes, but was then removed again. I only got about half way through before it disappeared. It was great!
I presume it was put up too early by mistake. Look out for it in the next 24 hours! We will also put the link up here for you too.
Edit: The gallery is now up!
